Aroha Mai is an integral Maori phrase, and an important acknowledgement from Briar to the Indigenous people of her home country, New Zealand. Aroha means love and Mai means to me, or back to myself. In essence, Aroha Mai embodies the concept of self-compassion through a lens of humility and authenticity.
Aroha Mai captures Briar’s foundational belief that an essential part of being in community and caring for others requires that we also begin by accepting and loving ourselves, particularly as we continue to grow, learn, make mistakes, or in other words, be human.

Hi there, thanks so much for taking the time to consider counselling. It takes courage and trust to share your inside thoughts and emotions with someone else. Counselling is such a privilege for me; a wonderful opportunity to work with people who have committed to working on how they can make thoughtful change in their lives.
My career in the helping profession has spanned over twenty years. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of British Columbia. My professional nursing experience includes an extensive background in mental health and education. I focused the majority of my clinical nursing experience on adolescents and young adults.
In addition, I have a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. My doctorate degree is from the University of Victoria combining psychology, health and education.
I am really passionate in my work with children, youth, young adults and the young at heart. I truly desire to assist clients in living authentic lives that recognize the unique potential that exists within all of us. My clinical counselling work has focused on eating disorders, self-harm, depression, anxiety, addiction, and career development.

Hello! I am passionate about the work that I do with clients because I believe we all deserve to live our best lives and to do so, we need to find our best selves. My desire to help others achieve healing and wellness is longstanding. My background is in people development and coaching. I am a wife and mother with a story full of beautiful and challenging life experiences that have shaped who I am today.
I am a person-centered and trauma-informed clinical counsellor who draws from various therapeutic modalities to collaboratively tailor sessions around clients' unique strengths, needs and goals. I have experience with youth, individuals and families and believe each person has the innate potential to heal and thrive. While I am happy to come alongside clients with whatever they are navigating, some prominent areas of experience include life transitions, life threatening illnesses, medical trauma and diagnosis, grief and marriage and family dynamics.
